Thank you to those of you who have made an application to our Annual Summer Show. It’s lovely to be back in touch with many of you and hearing about your plans and projects and seeing your new work.
There are a couple of shots that have caught our eye one being by Kym Cox that was published in the New York Times:
No.4 Colour Clouds by Kym Cox
Also a cracking shot by Sam Rose whose patience over all these years has paid of with The Pot of Gold
The Pot of Gold by Sam Rose
Remember, its not only photographers contacting us its the buying public too. We can answer many of their questions but it makes it so much easier if you do the following:
Edit each image and write a small description. I may recognise where the image was taken but I may not know why or what makes it special to you. Also it needs to be tagged so it appears in the correct category in the gallery which makes searching for it easier.
Check you have a profile photo and also that you have a current collection so that your profile appears in the list of exhibitors.
Update your images and add more portfolios, we always get a boost in views around a show so really make the most of this push towards the website.
Finally if you are interested in exhibiting it is a very affordable way to do so and trust me after all these years working at art fairs, in galleries and online there is no substitute to the buying public seeing something in front of them and buying it on the spot.
Once selected the work to be exhibited MUST be uploaded to your profile under a separate portfolio titled “Malthouse 2019” with your price for the item.
Work must be delivered on the 25th of June to The Malthouse, Mill Lane, Lyme Regis, Dorset DT7 3PU.
Work to be collected on the 10th July or if this is not possible then we can arrange for a paid courier to return the work (this will be quoted at the time).
If you are interested then please let Chelsea know by the 17th June 2019.
We can also print work for the show so please contact us with the details of your requirements so that we can quote. Please note that images for printing must be uploaded on your Shed profile beforehand.
This is a great opportunity to show your work to the buying public, meet the rest of the community and see how your work is received. Critical feedback and taking your work off a computer screen is an important step in your development as artists and photographers.
We will have a reception at 5pm on Saturday 5pm 29th June. Good luck with your application and see you there!
After our summer shows there is always a manic couple of weeks following up leads and contacts and processing orders. We have been delighted with the response and look forward to planning the next show!
The exhibition looked so elegant and vibrant with so many styles and we were delighted to meet so many of you during and after the show and also saying hello to old friends. It really helps to create the sense of community that is the essence of our online gallery, a place to sell you work in the internet age with a real community of like minded photographers and artists at its core.
Even though it feels as though all the hard work goes into putting on an event the after sales and goodwill need to be capitalised on.
If you sold work then post it across social media what you sold but also let people know what you still have in stock. Upload new portfolios and refresh your work, making sure to keep interest in your account. Visit exhibitions if you can such as the Affordable Art fair in Battersea this weekend to see how contemporary photographer, artists and galleries are printing their work, framing and hanging.
Here is a very interesting article by Sarah Lyons for the fair which I hope will provide some inspiration.
Thank you to all those taking part in the show we are sure it will be a huge success! There are just a few more i’s to dot and t’s to cross. It is very important that you do the following (if you have not done so already):
Verify all payments have been made for the show
If print work is being done for you that those payments have been made and you have emailed to tell us.
Once you have confirmed print work with Ben then please send Chelsea, ONE email detailing ALL the pieces you are delivering on Thursday 13th September.
TITLE – EXHIBITOR NAME – SIZE – PRICE
Email Chelsea: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note: We will deliver all print work to the exhibition on your behalf.
Price tags MUST be included for all artwork to be shown including work printed by us.
Remember all work needs to be collected at 4pm on Sunday 16th September unless you would like to be invoiced for us to arrange delivery. This can be quoted when we know what stock remains at the end of the exhibition.
